Students with Special Needs

We aim to accommodate all students with special needs who are applying to universities and faculties that use the National Comparative Exams (NCE) as part of their admission process.

We want to assist students who are blind or visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, have mobility impairments or other disabilities, have mental health challenges, or have specific learning disabilities. We collaborate with specialized institutions that focus on providing such assistance.

Students with special needs may take their exams directly at these specialist centres (in-person NCE). They take the same test on the same date as all other candidates. Depending on the student's disability or specific needs, the test materials are modified to ensure accessibility. The examination process itself is also adjusted to accommodate individual needs.

Exam location and dates

You can register for all official exam dates. Exams with modifications arranged in cooperation with specialist centres are available on standard NCE exam dates only at selected locations for in-person exams.

Anyone may take the online exam. However, participants are responsible for considering whether this exam format is suitable for their individual needs. The online environment may not be ideal for everyone, particularly when specific accommodations are required.

If you are unsure whether an online exam can adequately accommodate your needs, we recommend contacting us in advance at scio@scio.cz.

Registration and invitation

You can register for the National Comparative Exams (NCE) by clicking Register for Exams or by calling +420 234 705 555.

Special accommodations for the exam can only be requested as part of the standard registration period (not through an additional registration for the NCE), for which a deadline is always published alongside the exam dates.

When completing your registration, you must indicate that you are requesting special accommodations and provide a description of your disability, limitations, and specific needs. After completing and submitting your registration, you must provide current and valid supporting documentation from an educational psychology counselling centre or a medical professional. This documentation will be used to determine the appropriate exam accommodations. Please note that the validity period of the supporting documentation must either be explicitly stated in the document, or the document must be no more than two academic years old. The documentation must either be originally issued in English, or the participant must arrange for it to be translated into Czech or English. If the documentation is translated, an officially certified translation must be provided.

You must upload the required documentation no later than the standard registration deadline for the relevant exam date. Upload the documents using the designated form in your personal account, located below your personal details. During the week before the exam, you will receive an exam invitation by email. The invitation will also be available in your personal account. Your invitation will include the exam location (for in-person exams), date, time, and all necessary instructions, including the proposed accommodations.

Exam accommodations are only available for exams registered for within the standard registration period.
